We are currently undertaking work to install a Kier site compound on land adjacent to the motorway on the east side (southbound), just north of junction 17. This initial mobilisation work will involve excavators moving top soil, installation of fencing and drainage and placement of site cabins. The work will be undertaken during the day and all efforts will be made to keep disruption to a minimum. The compound will provide the main base for the works throughout the construction period and will facilitate the advanced works that will be undertaken before the end of the year.
Starting week commencing Monday 5 October Carillion Kier Joint Venture will also be undertaking some drainage and topography survey assessments along parts of the route. These works will initially necessitate some day time hard shoulder closures and will include manhole inspections, drain cleaning and verge clearance works. The works will also require some night time lane closures from 12 October 2015 and will start between junctions 18 and 19 then move south down to junction 17 and 16. These preliminary works, including the night time lane closures, will be in place up to and after Christmas. However, where possible the work will be undertaken during the day without lane closures in order to keep disruption to a minimum. Speed limit restrictions will not be required, however we would greatly appreciate your caution and consideration to the workforce when driving through this stretch of the network.
